It took nine months to gain your baby weight, and yet you probably want to get rid of it much faster than that. You are not alone. Aside from caring for your newborn, losing the baby weight is likely a priority. These are ways to lose weight after having a baby while also maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Breast-feed
Breast-feeding undoubtedly has benefits for your baby, but it is also a fast way to lose weight after having a baby. Your body needs extra calories every day to supply enough milk to your newborn; conversely, your body is also using up those extra calories plus some to produce the milk your baby needs. This will continue for as long as you choose to breast-feed your child.
Exercise
Obviously, exercise is important in losing weight, but after a baby it can be more difficult to fit into your life. Check your local library, mall or newspaper to find a group of moms who get together and walk with their strollers. There are designed exercises that involve the baby stroller. You are still right there where your baby needs you, but you're also out with other moms getting the exercise you need to lose the extra baby weight.
Eat
It is important for a new mom to keep up her energy, but it is also important in the battle of losing weight. Food provides the fuel you need. Eating regularly keeps your body running effectively. Of course, it also depends on the foods that you choose to eat. Talk with your doctor and find an approved diet plan, especially if you are choosing to breast-feed your baby.
More Exercise
Some exercise is not so obvious. If you have a two-story house then consider keeping the baby-changing necessities upstairs so that you can climb those extra stairs to burn some calories every time you need to change the baby. Or consider joining a Mommy and Me class where you get the opportunity to play and bond with your baby while burning a few extra calories in the process. When the baby is fussy, simply walk up and down the hall while you soothe him to burn even more calories.
