Having kids takes a toll on a woman's body. Weight gain is very common, and unbelievably hard to reverse, not only due to body changes after childbirth, but also due to time constraints and chores. Losing weight after having kids is important for health reasons, but also for a positive body image and to be a good role model for the kids.
Instructions
- 1
Take the kids to the park. Chasing them around burns calories, and aids in weight loss. Using park equipment step lunges can be done, pull-ups on monkey bars and tricep dips on park benches.
2Practice sports with the kids to lose weight. Chasing soccer balls is a good cardio workout. Playing catch tones arm muscles. Even cheering can get the heart rate up and burn some calories.
3Cook healthy meals. Not only will this help in losing weight, it also sets a good foundation for the kids' health in the future.
4Start walking. Walking is a great sport that requires little more than a pair of shoes and the will to move. It also allows for a little free time away from the kids and chores, which does wonders for the spirit.
5Get down on the ground and play. Playing like one of the kids is extremely tiring, but fun at the same time. Tag, water gun fights, snowball fights or jumping on the trampoline are great workouts and fun. Not only will this help you lose weight, it also helps with bonding with the kids.
6Buy workout videos and use them. If you are unable to get out of the house, pop in a tape and work out. As the kids get older, they may enjoy working out with the tape, too. Make sure to clean out an area big enough to do the moves, and set up some of the kids' favorite toys and games nearby to keep them occupied.
7Join a gym. Most gyms offer discounted or free child care. This way, a workout can be done and a babysitter is available right there. And gyms often provide personal trainers that can assist you while you lose weight.
